Estrangement

Their quarrel estranged the two friends,
It was an odious moment indeed.
It was the caressing touch of the current trend,
And Separation did the two heed.

They were the best of peers,
And laughter from them did bleed.
Yet did the strong woe pierce,
And Separation did the two need.

Hysteria was as though born.
None of them ready to concede.
Ha! But each other did they scorn,
And on Separation did the two succeed.

Dramatic suspirations were the only choice,
And on friendship they agreed.
But who could hear the future's abhorrent voice?
And Separation did the two accede.

The relationship though was divine;
Though each other's heart they could read,
The value of love, none could define,
And Separation did them mislead.

Life is like an undulating ferry,
Floating aimlessly like a poppy seed.
Ephemeral are the glimpses of merry,
And Separation is the greatest misdeed.
